Tervetuloa | Welcome
As an American living in Finland, I started this blog six years ago to address the political and cultural issues in Finland and the United States - but lately this blog is just a place for me to make fun of Finns and Americans. :-)

Those annoying foreign salespeople in the Kamppi Center

Tags: Immigrants & Immigration, Trying to be Funny — Author: Phil @ 3:44 pm

You know those annoying foreigners who try to sell shit to strangers at the Kamppi Center in Helsinki? Well comedian Louis Zezeran and I decided to go annoy them… (turns out they’re actually very nice people)

  1. Do they not have man on the street interviews in Sweden? You have to move the mic (back and forth) so you can hear the people you’re supposedly taking the piss out of.

But I did like their expressions when approached by the camera. I wish all of those guys as well as the Greenpeace and Unicef and other professional beggars would just jump in a hole.

This is Finland, and we’re not used to being approached. At all.

  2. Yeah we’ve never done interviews like that before, afterwards we were like “ooops, gotta move the mic back and forth”

  3. Also you might look into what kind of mic you’re using. It sounded like it needs to be powered or find a handheld mic that doesn’t need phantom power.

  4. Haha, nice Borat imitation!

I thought Phantom Power mics wouldn’t work at all if they didn’t get phantom power? But they’re work, they’ll just be weaker?

  8. No they work but very poorly.

  9. Umm by “very poorly” you should mean “not at all”. You absolutely wouldn’t get this kind of sound from a phantom powered mic without the power.

The mic seems fine, but all the audio is panned hard left, which is kind of annoying.

Thanks for a funny video though.

  11. Phil, I heard your buddy Esa (you know, the famous one) talk about maybe trying out stand-up some day. Surely you’ve booked him for Manala already. :P

winter, they really still haven’t removed you from that “Dead Man Walking” video?

  12. Thank god this kind of marketing has not yet found itself in Turku. Ok, there’s some gals selling “put this cream on yearself or wither&die” in Hansa but other than that we’re pretty commercial asshole free (sorry for this image but heck, they are a pain in the ass).

Do have those arrogant hippies wandering around Yliopistonkatu though “Yeah yea know about the global warming” “couldn’t care less” “you eat babies”; “Want to help the children because the globe is warming?” “no. leave me alone”. “no, I won’t, I wanna harass you” “cheers.”; “See, I’m a hippie, and you are wrong. Eat my shit. Eat Soya, f*cker”; ” etc etc.

Lovely “älä osta mitään päivää” for everyone (though it’s over a couple of hours ago, evvk) I guess I’ll choose local ho’s instead of foreign ones? wtf…? :P

  13. If this guy is a comedian then I pity the state of comedy. Has he tried to copy the Chaser’s War on and failed miserably..

Sure! It’ll cost him 50,000e to get on stage though. :-)

  17. Phil, please consider to quit this blog. Start all over again with your new comedy career blog and only re-start FfT when you have enough time, dedication and contributors again. As it is now, it is not worth visiting.
