The Daily Show visits Socialist Sweden!

Tags: Uncategorized — Author: @ 8:05 am

America is slowly becoming socialist like, [gasp!] SWEDEN!! You gotta watch…

Oh, Sweden, west of Eden… I happen to think that it is most developed corner on the earth, along with Holland, and we are, happily, not so far from that perfection! Seriously, yes, they might all be gays, bröderna Sedin certainly are böger, not to mention Mats Sundin, cursed be his name, but it is as far as this sorry lot has ever gone. Phil, you can only dream of that as regards your native concealed hand weapons carrying country!

Actually this video is not that funny if you think about it. It shows exactly how the New World Order will look like, The Order that works only for the Elite and not for the tax-payers. You must watch “Conspiritus ” part 1 to 10, and “The Arrivals” movies. Have a nice day Phil.

  • Biff Loman

I wouldn’t mind being gay if that meant being Swedish.

I really don’t think you have a fifth of “Swedish socialism” in the States: your nice universities and nice medicine are available for less than half population. The 1% wealthiest ones and the 10% poorest ones have such a gap. Pity.

  • a finn female, 30

ROFL! ROFL! Sweden rules, what else is there to say! Sorry Americans.

  • Winter (Go Protons, Cancer in remission, will soon be removed from “Dead Man Walking” video.)

it was not funny at all, geeeee is the Daily Show getting boooooooooring?????

  • http://knizzlefoshizzle.blogspot.com Marj

Of course the vid got yanked on account of copyright laws blah blah blah…….

The “we’re #1″ attitude of some people in the US always cracked me up. When my Finnish pal Hanna informed me that she didn’t pay a dime for her masters degree I wanted to barf. Especially looking at what I had to shell out for a crappy associates. Then again, an educated populace doesn’t make for good cannon fodder. Grrr….I could go on. I guess Socialism is the new “Al Qaeda”. At least Rush Limbaugh has a job.

  • x (sorry if once again)

Don’t worry: there ain’t a fifth of Swedish socialism in the States: schooling or basic health care are private and quite unaccessible to half the people overthere. What a pity, yet I still like the States !!!

The report didn’t mention anything about how contention for limited state resources creates racism among Sweden’s underclass. Sweden is of course known for having a rampant neo-Nazi subculture.

I know the economy in Finland is similar. Is racism also a problem there?

  • infinndel the jenkki dogg

What!?….They did not show nightly fires and social unrest
    in Malmo.. :-(

  • infinndel the jenkki dogg

They also didn’t show dancing, butt naked, shake your ***bOOty***
daisy-chain boys that proudly showcases Sweden’s progressive
sexual attitudes shown on You Tube video,in a privious article
linked on FFT …for all the world to see…..

  • say no to socialism

“I know the economy in Finland is similar. Is racism also a problem there?”

To some extent. The real problem however is the blindness of people. They live under the impression that they live in a welfare state where everyone is equal. Try starting your own business and your eyes are suddenly open. Certain group of people are happy to give a dime if people “actively seek for a job”. The real idea behind this is to keep them from starting their own business. Certain groups find it to be an effective way to keep the competition low. Both Finland and Sweden are very expensive countries and that cannot be explained in any other way, it has to be the lack of competition. Starting a business is made difficult on purpose. Real freedom starts from the economy.

  • Tarmo

Nah, I think they did the piece just to mock Fox News’s right wing propaganda… You know… by their(U.S wingnuts) standards, most of Europe is probably socialist.

  • Touring

#6 Sure also in Finland racism and renunciation about discussing the facts.
Brainwashing and censorship are at high levels.

  • OECD Survey

In recent years, Sweden has implemented ambitious tax cuts aimed at boosting growth: it used to have the highest tax-to-GDP ratio in the OECD, but it is now starting to edge down the list. This process should continue, in parallel with spending restraint. The recent OECD Tax and Growth study found corporate income taxes to be the most distortive, followed by personal income taxes and then consumption taxes, with housing taxes being the least inimical to growth.
    [...]
Continued gradual reductions of corporate income taxes and the recent abolition of wealth taxes improve Sweden’s attractiveness in the context of growing capital mobility.
    [...]
The total marginal tax wedge (contributions, income and consumption taxes combined) still rises to 70%, beginning not much above average full-time earnings and affecting a third of the full-time employed. Such a high marginal tax wedge is probably part of the reason why average working hours are short, and it is not conducive to entrepreneurship, human capital formation or retaining and attracting highly-skilled staff
    [...]
equity is better served by policies to promote learning outcomes for children of all backgrounds and to widen labour market inclusion than by retaining very high marginal taxes for high-income earners or the wealth tax which was recently abolished.

Just a fun fact for those who say “Back in the 50s-60s when Sweden was probably more socialist than ever it was the third wealthiest country in the world and had about 0% unenplyment,”

… Sweden was also a country that came out of the second world war with pockets full of third reich gold, because they remained “neutral” and sold iron ore to the Germans, while everyone else were fighting for their lives.

In any case, they walked away from the war with their pockets full and their infrastructure intact, with no war reparations to pay, into a booming export market because everyone else around them were rebuilding like crazy.

And before you say “the Yanks did the same thing!”, don’t forget that they also kinda liberated western Europe, while Sweden sold ball bearings to Hitler. Anyways, the public opinion in Sweden at the time was that Sweden should break the neutrality policy and help Finland in the war, and one of the major proponents of the idea was the minister of foreign affairs, Rickard Sandler. So they kicked him out of the wartime government so they could keep the trade relations with Germany intact. That’s Nordic democracy in a nutshell.

So before any of you uneducated, illiterate Americans open your mouths about Sweden’s economy it’s not because of the Nordic model, but because they’ve always had a golden spoon stuck up their collective arses while dodging bullets.
