Y’all do check out “Earth Girls Are Easy”. It’s got Geena Davis when she was humping Renni and it’s way full of some excellent Finland jokes. AND it’s a lot of fun. Julie Brown too!

It was actually quite succesful in a very nonsensical way. They just broke the style by using a real picture of Helsinki. Should’ve chosen some random russian city instead and it’d been great.

To really appreciate this one, I suppose one would have to see some of the other vignettes of this series. The inaccurate factual information is no real problem in this case, because like the Simpsons’ map of Europe, it was obviously never intended to be taken seriously. What exactly the point is, is something of a mystery to me. Maybe if I manage to find a broader context on YouTube, the mystery might open up a bit.

The (unintentional) point is, Wilska, that Maharararahar’s threat to ‘leave the country if ______ is elected’ is as devoid of reality as this skit was.

It’s just filler. Maher is useful for some things and some of his views are dead-on but he is a smug gasbag. Take him out of his cozy laugh-in studio environment and he would wither.

Love those mountains. That ain’t no Saana. I wonder if the average American associates mountains and cliffs with Finland. That would be cool.

Once a friend asked me if there were trees in Finland. He is college educated.

Praise the writers then. I have understood most American comedy shows are being written forehand. They make an icon of a person who has enough character or charm, but that’s about it. Everything else is done by writers. It’s a matter of taste if you like it or not. I prefer the originals, such as Conan O’Brien. That’s a bloke who can really stand alone.

Conan has writers, but he is on his own writing staff.

Maher jumped the shark when he started making fun of Steve Irwin. That was the moment really where he just stopped being very good at what he does anymore. I guess his tasteless halloween costume went to his brain or something. I wanted him to be full of win, but he just hasn’t been.

The Palin jokes are just too easy.
