Predict your next home pregnancy

Tags: Everything — Author: @ 5:56 pm

Here’s an interesting choice of wording for this popular Finnish home pregnancy test: “Predictor”. Umm…I don’t think it’s a prediction I’m looking for – facts would be preferable. Does this thing come with a crystal ball and set of tarot cards or something? Do I need to dial a 1-900 number to get my results at $3.99/minute?

I tried this thing myself. After I shook it, the black triangle on the device read: “Ask again later”. So I shook it again…

So what did it say when you asked “Obama or McCain?”

So what did it say when you asked “Obama or McCain?”

    It said, “Barr” ;-)

Sorry, but Predictor is an international brand, and ‘predict’ doesn’t only mean guessing.

Straight from Wiktionary: “to state, or make something known in advance, especially using inference or special knowledge”
I guess you can count your hormone levels as special knowledge.

so what are you doing in that part of the pharmacy?

hehe, nah, I just heard about this brand and found a pic on Google. No little Phil’s or Phyllis’s coming anytime soon! :-)

Awwww…party pooper! you’re ruining all the fun! :-)

Weatherman “predict” the weather. Analysts “predict” the stock market. Wouldn’t want to compare my pregnancy test to those guys. I would have thought a “Predictor” would predict if your baby would be a boy or a girl.

It’s Predictor because they have this pill called Corrector, so even the worst pississies are able to go through the Predictor-Corrector algorithm.

The *PREDICTOR* brand , has just announced a new drug test that will predict,by urinary analysis,a persons propensity towards politically incorrect leanings.
Third world tyrants, Eurabian Supremisists, and failed ex Commie-KGB agents(VLAD THE IMPALER PUTIN),can determine with accuracy, the *U.S.of-KKK-A.(tm Reverend Jeremiah Wright)*targets they need to suppress and neutralize…
A follow-up of the drug known as *CORRECTOR*,will be just what the doctor ordered to make WESTERN WORLD bow down, and go into
    convulsive seizures. :-(

    *FLASH*…*FLASH*…*FLASH*…..
The <>brand,a subsidiary of pharmaceutical company
*MEGA-GIANT EURO-DRUG*, has just announced a new drug test kit,
called *PRE-DICK-TA-TOR*, that gives a statistically significant
indicator of who would be the next FEARLESS DICTATOR that
    would rule the world! :-(

I got confused by the Retardex ads in the subway. What kind of a brand name is that???

  • infinndel the jenkki dogg

    #10 VILJA…it is a Russian brand..

#6 “Awwww…party pooper! you’re ruining all the fun!”

Yes indeed: facts once again got in the way of Phil’s rhetorically convenient assumptions. I swear, if “jumping to conclusions” were an Olympic event, Phil would have a gold medal!

The name “Predictor” might merit some critical scrutiny, but it doesn’t keep the product from being sold under that name in English-speaking countries:
    http://www.predictor.eu/uk/
But then again, the name seems to be applied not only to the pregnancy test, but also to a digital thermometer that really is used in predicting the time of ovulation.

And I am also very glad that a type of cola drink that amused me to no end in East Germany has been documented on the Internet. I seem to have commented on it before,

and now I actually found a picture:

I believe the point of Phil’s post was not the origin but the name of the product.

Many (some would say a constantly increasing number of) FFT commenters definitely have a prescription.

He called it a “Finnish home pregnancy test”.

Retardex might actually be a brilliant idea. That’s a brand name that everybody remembers, unlike most brands. I’m still not using it, though, even if the brand name is constantly on my mind.

As for Predictor, maybe it’s not supposed to give full certainty so that there is no legal responsibility for the manufacturer if the test gets it wrong.
