At the risk of sounding preachy, two rules to keep your production server script kiddie-proof:

1. Only install what you need (That’s right, no SuperTUX on your web server)
2. Keep that minimal selection of packets up to date

Thanks guys! It’s good to be back. I’ve had this blog online like four years, and never once wiped everything clean and did a fresh install – so all sorts of rouge files have been floating around. Plus I hadn’t been updating WordPress as often as I should – and finally some assholes and bots took advantage. Fortunately I backup my stuff regularly.

Excellent! It was quite disappointing to notice that you are offline when this campaign finance scandal has been going on. I guess you would see it as no corruption (potential or actual) at all but as “free speech” – you libertarians are such a strange bunch… Anyway, hopefully it weren’t aggravated native welfare statists that were behind this dastardly attack!
