The Helsinki Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Group

Tags: Uncategorized — Author: @ 10:19 am

There appears be a relatively active Ron Paul support group in Helsinki! Both Finns and foreigners involved. They’re making t-shirts, donating money, planning meetups, sending out messages. If you’re interested in connecting with other Ron Paul supporters in Helsinki, be sure to sign up!

I’ve been talking with Kee (the assistant organizer) about the possibility to get together and go into someone’s house and watch the GOP debates in live stream (at least FOX News offers this alternative). We could also go in front of the Helsinki embassy with some Ron Paul signs and take some pictures, maybe make it into a Finnish (language) Ron Paul promotion video :) . Also there are some Americans living in Finland and it would be useful to spread the Ron Paul message to them so they understand vote for Ron in the primaries. So feel free to email your American friends about Ron Paul :) .

Only registered members of the Republican Party may vote in their respective state’s Republican primary. So that excludes anybody living in Finland. Ron Paul has a snowball’s chance in Hell anyway, so it’s a big waste of time and effort.

No, I’m still registered in my homestate of Maryland, so I could send in an absentee ballot. But I’m not a Republican so I couldn’t vote for Dr. Paul unless I switched parties.

  • Go Libertarian!

“Ron Paul has a snowball’s chance in Hell anyway, so it’s a big waste of time and effort.”

Not a waste of time at all. Even though he won’t win, a large showing by voters will sway the entire political spectrum toward libertarianism. The other parties won’t be able to ignore it; so voting for Dr. Ron Paul is very worthwhile, in my opinion.

  • infinndel

This Ron Paul activity in Finland,is stupid and absurd..
Any one in Finland, who is not an American citizen, should mind their own FREAKIN’ business when it comes to American elections..most Finns hate Americans and America now..
And please do not bring up the stupid ConanO’brian/Tarja Halonen stupid looove triste that would have been a great Love Boat comedy episode on High speed ferry to Tallinn, ending in a drunken brawl involving the captain of the Super Seacat!

  • infinndel

When Hillary “THE COMMIE” Cliton is president,Ron Paul will be appointed Commie czar intern and will become official on call cigar humidor activist. For Billy Boy Cliton, turn around is fair play(or is it foreplay?)…lets see some smoke rings riseing from “Hillary the commies’” desk and a smile on Ron Paul’s face..sattana!

infinndel you dumb twat. You have taken the crown for stupidity off winter and that is no mean feat. “Should mind their own FREAKEN business…..” Then WTF are you doing here polluting our minds with the rubbish you talk? Mind your own FREAKEN business and visit a US blog, if that’s your opinion. Ignorant and arrogant TWAT.

  • Thomas K.

lol… Calling Hillary “THE COMMIE” is one thing, but doing so on a website chiefly about Finnish politics adds a whole new layer of absurdity.

  • Punter

Sorry folks, the post above comes courtesy of Punter.

  • infinndel

#6…Greetings to punter, who fails to recognize political satire.Even if it came up and bit him on his perse!
Here is a nice, warm carbon footprint salute!

  • infinndel

#6 …punter…Infinndel’s duty on this blog is to stimulate clogged up and stultified minds like yours…My diagnosis of your mental state is
a rare form of brain disease called “Calcium formation of the Medula Oblongata”

  • Punter

Go and bother someone else wanker. I thought we had finally lost your presence here after missing your insight for several months. Why don’t you misplace this address again and go bark up a tree. Then again, I guess you being “half-finn” does prove so many of my suspicions correct.

  • infinndel

#7 welcome to the theater of the absurd!….absurdity abounds on this website,as well as the rest of EURABIA.
I just want to expose and amplify it for creative comedic purposes…

But YOU ARE NOT FUNNY. UNDERSTAND IT. A CLOWN IS NOT ALWAYS FUNNY NOR DOES HE ALWAYS HAVE A RED NOSE.

Do us all a favour and go rehearse your act somewhere else. At least winter is the original. (Can’t believe I’m defending winter)

  • infinndel

Winter please come and rescue me!

Hmmm… I would think that anyone outside of the US would want to lend support to Ron Paul since the US has our fingers in so many other nations. (Especially you folks up in Canada. I don’t want a North American Union either.) Certainly, if those of you in other countries want the United States OUT of your country, you might seriously consider the prospect of supporting Ron Paul monetarily. It may be a US election, but the results will create certain effect. -Tom

  • Mr Tom

If you enjoy war ,Socialism, communism, distress and government sanctioned slavery, I would get behind Hillary or any of the C.F.R.gangsters of either party. If the above does not appeal to you there is only one choice Dr. Ron Paul.

  • unlce sam

    Ron Paul is gay

  • Helsinkian

The Ron Paul campaign is very interesting given that he enjoys more support outside the Republican Party than inside it. So he will probably end up with a very bad primary result. Still, as a candidate in the Republican primaries, he will get more publicity than by running as an independent. He has already once tried running as the Libertarian Party candidate and he didn’t exactly achieve universal name recognition by doing that.

  • zebber

#1 “Only registered members of the Republican Party may vote in their respective state’s Republican primary. So that excludes anybody living in Finland.”

Wow, whoever you are, you certainly have shown your ignorance concerning voting in primaries and general elections. I am a citizen of the United States, duly registered to vote in Tennessee and I reside in Estonia (it is a country in Europe…I’m most sure you didn’t know that, so I thought to tell you). I voted via absentee ballot in 2004, both in the primary and general election and I shall do the same in 2008…for Dr. Ron Paul.

Who are you supporting…one of the so called top tier clowns I bet…judging from your ignorance concerning absentee voting, I’d be willing to bet you are supporting that big ole dummy Fred Thompson…he is ignorant about everything as I’m sure are his supporters.

  • http://www.jukkav.blogspot.com Jukka

RuPaul is running for President!!!??? Who cares if he wins, he’s got way better legs than Hillary. That guy’s HOT!

  • John Howard

Predictions are wishes pretending to be wisdom. Whether they are voters or not, the more people cheering for Ron Paul, the more the voters will be made aware of him. Thanks to all those in other countries who are showing their support.

  • Born there

As a proud member of UNITED STATED MILITARY MAN, USMC. I’m voting Rudy Juliani!

Ron Paul ? what a joker! OR, as long as it ain’t no democrats, Ill choose next better.

  • infinndel

How come there is not a Helsinki Rudy Giuliani 2008 meet up group?
Rudy, also e republican, seems a much more likely winner in 2008.His popularity after the 911 twin towers murderous catastrophe is a result of his understanding of the ongoing threat by Radical Islamists.

  • kana

“Ron Paul has a snowball’s chance in Hell anyway, so it’s a big waste of time and effort”

That’s not really true. It doesn’t take that much to become a Republican candidate. Here’s a little article about that written by Lasse Pitkäniemi…

    http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/pitkaniemi1.html

Even though I’m not american and can’t vote, I wouldn’t say this is total waste of time. Ron Paul is propably the best chance to get any publicity to libertanian ideas here in Finland.

  • Dave the Revelator

You know your libertarian US candidate for president is having trouble getting votes when…

He starts campaign outposts in Statist Welfare countries like Finland.

  • Dave the Revelator

Born there, you might look in to the spelling of your purported favourite candidate Giuliani, it will be easier to find him on the ballot.

  • Dave the Revelator

However, the stuff I heard Ron say at a debate about getting out of Iraq were quite spot on.

  • winter “Yea, Proton Power, now in remission”

Yea, right, even Hillary is saying she will just follow the Bush Iraq policy. Heck, its the only one that will be a win, all others are cut and run.

  • born there

25 > nope, that my way of making him sound fancy.

  • Joey

Please organize weekend meetups, so those of us outside Ring 3 can participate ;)

  • John Howard

If we stop killing, that’s “cut & run”. If we ain’t committing murder, we ain’t got balls. War is good. Peace is for pussies. Ameriker, right or wrong.

    Not.

  • Mikael

How many people have got enough spare time to waste it on Ron Paul? Ron Paul the Libertarian vs the neo-Conservatives? Ron Paul is nothing but a waste of time and he already got crushed by Guiliani when he offered Guiliani the “debate’s slam dunk” of the year.

  • Ronald Bates

Reading some of the comments by libertarians on this website have really changed my opinion about the movement. Truthfully, I hadn’t previously considered Dr.Ron Paul. But now I’m giving him a closer look. I’m still registered as a Republican in my home state, so there’s a good chance I’ll vote for him.

I realize he can’t win, but voting for him is still good for the political process. Anti-war + less government interference into our lives is definitely what I want. I hope his inclusion in the upcoming elections makes a difference.

    Regards.

  • http://www.finlandforthought.net Phil

Hillary Clinton and Rudy Guiliani are the only two candidates that have a shot at winning. So if you’re not supporting either of these two, you’re “wasting your vote”. All you Obama supporters…you’re not different than Ron Paul supporters, you’re just “throwing away your vote”.

  • winter, “Yea, Proton Power, now in remission”

Gee Clinton as president. Then another Bush? (Jeb Bush), then the kids all fight for the crown?

What do we call SIR Hillary? Queen Hillery? Drag Queen Hillary? Jail house Hillary?, or my Fav “Impeach” Hillary.

  • infinndel

Everyone must remember that Billy Boy Cliton was the first and only president to ever be impeached ,for lying about after sex cigar smoke rings, wafting from oval office

But that’s exactly the point here. RP vs Rudy wouldn’t propably be very fair fight, but those 2 aren’t the only candidates. Reps have something like 9-10 candidates. RP is libertarian ja rest of them are more or less some sort of neo-cons. Now, if you are going to vote neo-cons, you have several options to choose from. So, none of them isn’t going to get all of those votes or not even big portion on them. At the same time RP doesn’t have to compete with an other libertarian, hence he’s going to get all of those votes.
And you also have to keep in mind that only a small portion of Reps is actually going to vote. When you are making a poll, you go to people yourself and ask their opinions. But the situation is different on the primary morning. Those voting machines aren’t coming to your home. So the real question isn’t who has the biggest support but whos supporters are actually interested enough to vote.
At least to me, it looks like those RP supporters are pretty eager to do that right now. And he doesn’t have compete with an other libertarian. So, I think he has very good chances to become elected Reps candidate.
