Helsinki Thai Massage the Sausage
The Helsingin Sanomat has revealed a “public knowledge” publicly. Namely that “Thai Massage” parlours offer massage of the sausage. They claim through their empirical test of 30 “Thai Massage” parlours that each one is there as a front of sex than massage. The only place where sex was not initially offered was one where a Finnish woman was “standing-in for the regular” - but when asked she said “of course if the price is right”. The vice squad says they know of this, but as prostitution is not “publicly disturbing” does not take place in a “public venue” as a street or restaurant and there is no pimping involved they have “more pressing things to worry about, like the Russian & Estonian mob pimps”. As there were not much if any receipts given out, the tax authorities answer was similarily “we know of it but really we got bigger fish to catch”…

Do these girls have sex with you? Or is it just hand jobs and blow jobs? Which reminds me, one of my all-time favorite Simpsons quotes, from Ralph Wiggum: “Mrs. Hoover, which one is ‘oral’?” Mrs. Hoover: “Out of your mouth, Ralph”
I wonder how many Vietnamese girls in Finland pretend they’re Thai?

Sausage massages are the best
Comment by Kristian — Mon, Aug 27th, 2007 @ 1:02 am
Well isn’t the main argument against prostitution the exploitation and pimping of the girls + organized crime connections?
Which if not present makes it very difficult for any authorities to intervene. For in principle I really see no standing argument to prohibit adult women/men trading sex for whatever compensation suits them.
I’m also sure considering the money/time ration there are far worse legal jobs out there than jacking off some middle-aged business executives.

Some of them do. (And with some of them you wouldn’t want to.)

Depends on who you ask. A popular reasoning among feminists is that a woman is not an article, a merchandise; you can’t buy her. See, if you pay a woman to cut your hair or massage your back it’s ok. If you pay her to massage your ’sausage’ you’re treating her like a merchandise. I never really understood this.
Anyway, prostitution is not illegal per se in Finland. Public and disturbing prostitution is illegal, pimping is illegal, and paying a pimped prostitute for sex is illegal.

Huh. The reasoning I’ve always heard is that she should do whatever she wants with her body. That includes hooking if she chooses.
You must be hanging around with the wrong feminists

My apologies to the feminists then. Yes, that seems logical.

You’re allowed to post a photo if…
1. It directly pertains to the article
2. If you cite the source and photographer
3. If you link back to the source
Hank did one of the three so I removed it for the time being.

Yah, why would some “middle-aged business executives“ have had to pay for sex from some struggling Asian women when their Western|Finnish counterparts would happily spread their legs for free or just around 4am during the bar closing time…
“I wonder how many Vietnamese girls in Finland pretend they’re Thai?“
is same as
“How many balding American geekies and potbellied Australian losers frequent these massage parlours?“
Why segregate or ostracize certain nationalities like hardworking churgoing Vietnamese immigrants who toil and labor in Finnish factories…
Get off the high moral ground, will you…and how come the prostitutes are penalized and not the jacking off married cheaters and adulterous swines that are being serviced in these massage parlours…pardon my language.
There are many things in Finland that are more shocking than the world’s oldest profession unraveled in Helsinki streets…and don’t even let me start on it.

Hey, Phil most of the time Asian girls in Finland don’t need to “pretend” to be Thai because they are simply just seen as one. All Asians are simply slumped into a one group.
All I see and hear in Finland about Asians are that they are either prostitutes, human traffickers, human rights violators, tax-evaders etc. Just getting tired of it….

The Sanomat sucks ass if that’s the best investigative reporting they can muster. I feel like writing a letter to the editor with the word “DUH!”. I wonder why they don’t hang out around the Hietalahti market and watch all the Russian and Estonian women peddling tax-free smokes in front of the Maistratti. Or anything that requires some, well, investigation.

Never in a million years will you ever, ever admit to making an error, eh Hank?
Despite the fact that Phil removed the photo (which was incidentally not hotlinked nor had a caption beneath it) as soon as I brought attention to it (and it has not been replaced with appropriate labelling, I might add), you still insist you were right.
Additionally you instruct me not to “rave” but it is clear who is the real “raver” around here.

And as for the “linguistically challenged” remark, just keep in mind that this is an English-language blog. I suppose if the same article were written in Korean you would have linked to that one?
You need to stop taking your aggressions out on complete strangers, get off the internet and get those fingers outta yer bum. Your “crisis management” is really not what it used to be, did you know that?
Comment by Dave the Slave — Tue, Aug 28th, 2007 @ 7:39 pm
Animus, you think I need medication? Read your own post, watch your dictation and tell me when has prostitution ever been recognized, legalized or officially accepted in Finland? (CRAPLAND?) Any time it’s discussed here, the usual womens groups and politicians jump with one voice shouting it down and neglecting to even consider recognition and sensible legislation. Push it away and pretend it isn’t there.
Comment by Punter — Tue, Aug 28th, 2007 @ 8:41 pm

#22: So, all Thai women are prostitutes and criminals, wheress this does not apply to all Asian women. I’m so glad you’re here to set our bigoted prejudices straight!
#23: Finland doesn’t really have investigative journalism. As a matter of fact, the quality of journalism overall has become pretty abysmal. Often the “quality papers” print such crap that one has to take refuge in the tabloids.
Comment by Freeridin' Franklin — Tue, Aug 28th, 2007 @ 11:17 pm
Freeridin - Yeah, I know…investigative journalism would require a critical mind and a journalist unafraid of the great brainwashed throng that is Finland jumping down their neck for suggesting that the fish are full of mercury and dioxin and the forests are being denuded and their tax dollars are being wasted on ice cube sculptures in the middle of summertime. It’s the dark side of the coin that is a homogeneous society that is terrified of a lack of concensus. Still, one can hope that someone, someday is going to be willing to something like 20/20 or Woodward and Bernstein in Finland.

#33: And PCBs and BFRs among other things, but this is hardly news. Of course, there would be even more if we took the wise counsel of experts like Punter and repealed all silly tree-hugging environmental laws.
By the way, how did you learn this? As the Finnish media is silent on the matter, I suppose you measured the dioxin levels from samples of baltic herring yourself?
Comment by Freeridin' Franklin — Wed, Aug 29th, 2007 @ 11:07 pm
Actually there must be a correlation between the regular eating of fish (clean healthy local fish, not that imported crap) with all those dioxins and other chemicals from those green lakes and the ability of so many people to think for themselves in Finland. I would like to see a study on that.
As for environmental laws, yes a lot of them are silly and made to appease tree huggers. Still, having them obviously hasn’t helped the Finnish environment as much as we would have hoped. I think all radical tree huggers should also remember to hug a caterpillar, as long as I’m driving it that is
Comment by Punter — Thu, Aug 30th, 2007 @ 12:02 pm
Yes, “independent” thinking that is so prevalent here could be linked to a high mercury diet. After all, the welfare state recommends against eating baltic herring more than twice a month.
As for silly environmental laws, could you quote a few? I suppose at least the one banning the production of PCBs woould qualify as well as thode regulating waste incineration. I’d love to celebrate emancipation from tree-hugging by setting up a permanent tractor tyre bonfire next to your place.
Comment by Freeridin' Franklin — Fri, Aug 31st, 2007 @ 12:53 am
And the good lord knows I have enough tyres to burn here. Actually that would be a good idea. Save me all that time and money having them disposed of in a safe and eco way.
In all honesty the environmental laws in Finland, for industry anyway, are not all that strict especially when compared to our other European counterparts. Just another myth in the welfare state I’m afraid.
