Satanic Eurovision?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kristian  @ 8:37 am

This is pretty funny. Evangelicals in Switzerland are condemning Eurovision as a Satanic event. The controversy stems from the lyrics of a Swiss singer, but Finland’s Lordi is also on their hit list….

The petition also states that the Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in May in the Finnish capital Helsinki, has increasingly become a platform for “the occult and Satanists”.

It makes reference to last year’s surprise winners Lordi who wooed fans with their “monster rock” and also faced accusations of being a satanic group – something they denied.

So, should we bring crosses and garlic just in case?

  1. Hilarious. A Christian group does not approve, and it’s blogs ahoy, here’s grist for the mill! Ho ho, them crazy Christians!

But when a whole country hates not undead vampires, but live Jews so goddamn much that they cannot stand the sight of them it’s just another day at the office. Also, we must understand the Muslims and be vewy vewy tolerant …

    Howzabout a little perspective, no?

“Lebanon withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 after refusing to show the Israeli entry by the singer Shiri Maimon on Lebanese television. This was due to legal restrictions in Lebanon that does not allow the showing of Israeli programmes.

Due to the withdrawal, Lebanon now faces a three-year ban from the Eurovision Song Contest. It can rejoin the contest in 2009, but if the problems of broadcasting Israeli entries are not solved before then, it might never rejoin until the problem is corrected.”

  2. Well there was the recent conflict, it’s understandable if emotions are still running a little hot. Them crazy Christians btw are a vewy, vewy large minority in Lebanon, about 40% of the population.

  4. Oh no, no no nonononono, not the Swiss.. It’s DJ Bobo for gawd’s sake!

The song is unbelievably ludicrous and aqward and the performer (AND the performance) makes one cringe. The fear factor is in the absloute horror of how BAD the act is. A stupid, flaccid and embarrassing attempt to copy what was a successful monster show last year. Pluh-ease.

Euro kitch at its worst.. *HURL*

  14. All I can say about the eurovision 2007 is that UK’s entry is a total piece of garbage. Scooch - Flying the Flag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kNoAddyUMQ horrible.

  15. …and in addition I think that UK’s entry is much more closer to occultism, satan worshipping and what not. Simply a crime. Makes me really wonder why did that song get through, since really the best bands / music tends to come UK otherwise :/

But they’d need to be playing country music then ;)
