This is a fantastic graphic. It’s a shame some of the “big” names are getting on a bit in years now for the next olympics in 2010. But on the bright side, so are a fair few of the Swedish big names…

At least future of Finnish goal-keeping looks bright, with Kari Lehtonen and Hannu Toivonen already good enough to start in the NHL. Now if only we could find worthy replacements for Selänne and Lehtinen…

And there is a lot of guys in the AHL waiting for their chance. Ducks for the cup and Selänne can then retire.

It must be from Helsingin Sanomat, it has the little HS in the top right corner and it is recognisably their ‘style’ of graphic (the text font). Not that I have read a print copy of it for months.

I have to confess (quite oddly and yes, perhaps stupidly) that I didn’t even notice the huge watermark, and yet did notice the tiny HS in the top right hand corner… I am not sure what that says about my perceptive ability.

The Minnesota Wild faithful are hoping for a breakout year from Mikko Koivu. Regular season starts tomorrow.

Dallas leads the trend with 4 Finns and have had at least two finnish players for the last 6 years! Stars mangement know quality when they see it.

being a hockey fan, i’m always looking out for the finns. mikko koivu is awesome at the faceoffs, and he’s very underrated compared to his brother saku.in fact, i think most of the finns(aside from selanne) are pretty much underrated. heres to a great season for the finns!
