  1. I thought this was great until i click on the original and realized the sign was photoshopped.

    Sigh…

  2. LOL….it made me think of home and the Dunkin’ Donuts…”Officer, would you like a cruller?!”

I wonder how well a Krispy Kreme shop would do in Helsinki. Fresh, hot, donut crack right off the production line at 3am would give the grillis some tough competition. :)

  3. That picture is SO old, and definitely not FinnFreak’s.

  5. For real, it’s been photoshoped? Yeah….looking at it now, I see it…since when do Finnish kiosks ever have sales!??!

    Comment by Phil — Wed, Apr 26th, 2006 @ 10:09 pm

  6. Yeah, seldom, and if it’s a grilli then I presume their most sold product would be a big portion of makkaraperunat (nam nam) instead of doughnuts ;).

  7. If my memory serves right, that picture has something to do with the Finreactor bust?

  8. Whoever eats donuts in Finland?
    No-one!

  9. Sure, it’s Photoshopped… but it’s still a good joke… I can’t even remember where I saw it first… heh…

Anyone wonder what the sign originally might have said..?

“We Sell Mustamakkara - Cops Get To Nibble At Half Price “..? ;)

  10. FinnFreak…well, if it’s any comfort, I thought it was hilarious. :) Cops collecting at the Dunkin’ for a cruller and lahge regulah caffee is a fine tradition in Boston. Don’t bother dialling 911, just run down to the Dunkin’ on the corner if you need a police officer. :)

And Sara, true, what passes for donuts here aren’t really donuts….but somebody must eat them as Arnold’s seems to do pretty good business. :)

  11. “If my memory serves right, that picture has something to do with the Finreactor bust?”

Yup. When Finreactor got busted (2004?) there was an another version of that picture where the “Hervannan grilli” sign was replaced with “Finreactor”. Thus that original donut-picture is sooo old…

    Still funny though :)

  12. People eat donuts in Finland, why would they have the arnold’s donuts franchise or those great kulonpään donitsit from a supermarket near you! :)

  14. Hmmm, I prefer the delicacy of more heavily armed part of our state’s violence machinery, namely the Munkki.

Oh, yes. Maybe those cops were eating “Kuuma koira”s - a munkki, or jelly doughnut, with a sausage inside. It has all the elements of the food circle in one meal (sugar, fat, and protein!)

Kuuma koira is a direct translation of hot dog, but the jelly doughnut version is a specialty of Nokia (not the corporation, the original). If those no-good Hervantaers have gone and stolen our secret weapon, there will be hell to pay!

  18. There’s the Finnish police school near that grill in Hervanta. I think those were some police trainees gathering for some exercise or something.
