“Finland has violated the treaty establishing the EU by systematically forbidding people living in Finland from driving a car that is a job perk on business and work-related matters in Finland, if the car is registered in another EU member state”
This is from my cousin, Dr. Patrick Jones, at the University of Nebraska. A future colleague of his has been banned from his new position because he’s on a list of individuals under “conspicuous revision
On February 13, 2006, the American Historical Association (AHA) sent a letter to the Departments of State and Homeland Security expressing concern over the plight of Dr. Waskar Ari, a member of the Aymara indigenous people of Bolivia and an authority on religious beliefs and political activism among indigenous Bolivians, who has been prevented from taking up his post as assistant professor of History and Ethnic Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln because he has been placed on a list of individuals under “conspicuous revisionâ€Ââ€â€that is, he is being subjected to extensive background checks due to alleged security concerns.
Finland 4 – Russia 0 | Final!! Finland plays Sweden on Sunday for the gold!!
Only 2,000 people subscribe to this magazine – Probably not worth mentioning but here it is…
The board of Finnish culture magazine Kaltio decided Friday to sack its editor, Jussi Vilkuna, after he refused to remove a cartoon featuring a masked prophet Muhammad from the magazine’s website.
Harri Kynnös, the chairman, told the Finnish News Agency (STT) that letting Mr Vilkuna go after eight years as editor of Kaltio had been a difficult one. Mr Vilkuna said the board’s decision illustrated that it had not grasped the nature of a culture magazine.
“The task of a culture magazine is to arouse debate on important issues. What a grand way to interpret freedom of speech,” Mr Vilkuna added ironically. In the cartoon, the prophet Muhammad is depicted debating the meaning of free speech with a cartoonist.
On Thursday, Tapiola, Sampo and Pohjola withdrew their advertisements from the Kaltio website. Olavi Nieminen, the chief lawyer of Pohjola, a non-life insurance firm owned by OKO Bank, said the posting of the cartoon had been irresponsible and a wrong way to defend free speech.

In addition to the Ovi project, he is the co-presenter of the Sunday night Bad Boys radio show on Lähiradio 100.3, which has recently gained its independence. Asa also writes feature-length articles for Ydin magazine, a bi-monthly Finnish language magazine, and works as a copywriter for Chameleon Project.

I’ve neglected my “Wrong America” category, so here’s a good one – The town of Black Jack, Missouri forbids three or more individuals from living together if they are not related by “blood, marriage or adoption.” So an unwed family of five might get booted from their new home…
Shelltrack and Fondray Loving, her boyfriend of 13 years, were denied an occupancy permit because of an ordinance forbidding three or more individuals from living together if they are not related by “blood, marriage or adoption.” The couple have three children, ages 8, 10 and 15, although Loving is not the biological father of the oldest child.
[...]At the hearing, Shelltrack said, one board of adjustment member, Norma Mitchell, even pointed at her and asked, “I don’t understand why you as a woman didn’t exercise your right to marry that man,” before being hushed by another board member.
[...]The ordinance has been challenged before. In 1999, the unwed parents of triplets challenged the city’s denial of an occupancy permit. It is unclear how that case was resolved.
Why can’t the Muslims or American missles instead target certain city council members in redneck towns? This law is kinda the opposite of Finland’s ridiculous law that automatically considers male and females living together to be in a “common law marriage”, even if they’re just roomates. And are there still laws on the books in Finland that forbids more than two(?) non-related women living together?

I’m upgrading from WordPress 1.51 to 2.01 tonight – so be prepared for all hell to break loose…
UPDATE: Okay, it’s upgraded, but my two sidebars on the right are missing. Anyone seen’em? …anyone notice any other strange behavior?
UPDATE #2: Okay, found my sidebars. It turns out the poll plug-in was causing me grief, it may not be compatible with this new version, I’ll have to find an updated version. But other than that it looks okay. Please let me know if you see anything strange. Also let me know if that comment problem is still happening.
Olli Jokinen scored a pair of goals as Finland edged the United States 4-3 on Wednesday, dumping the reigning silver medallists out of the men’s Olympic ice hockey tournament.
Unbeatable in the preliminary round, Finland showed no signs of letting up as they advanced to the semi-finals where they will meet the winner of the Canada-Russia quarter-final to be played later on Wednesday.
That Irving is jailed for what he has said in a speech years ago, not even in Austria, is very bad news. How are we supposed to convince Muslims that we can say whatever we want about Muhammad if we – Europeans – throw people in jail for their speeches? That such speeches are disgusting is irrelevant, since anyone can argue that any speech is disgusting to him, of course.
A new trailer is out for (from the man who wrote “Minority Report”, “Total Recall”, “Blade Runner”) Philip K. Dick’s “A Scanner Darkly” starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, and Winona Ryder. Coming July 7th. Sci-Fi fans should be excited. The story is about a drug-abusing cop who’s given the assignment to narc on himself…

So over the past week or two, there’s been an issue in the comment section. Users write a comment, then occasionally a previous user’s name is listed as their own. I am unable to replicate this issue for some reason and I really need your help so I can fix this…
- When you write a comment and the incorrect name appears, whose name is it? The previous commenter? Or someone completely random? Or..?
- When you’re writing your comment and the browser/blog automatically inserts your user details in the fields for you – are the details correct at that time? Or are they sometimes incorrect, but you don’t notice it until after you’ve pressed the submit button?
- This bug seems to happen sometimes, and other times it works fine. When it’s happening, is it happening for all the posts? Or just some particualr posts?
- Have anyone found any workarounds for this? (like restarting the browser or reloading the page or ??)
- If you’ve had this problem, please tell me which browser and version you’re using. Also, have you tried clearing your browser cookies for this site yet?
- Does anyone have any more info on this? Anymore details that will help me debug this?
Thanks gang!! And thanks for being patient with me! I promise I’ll get this fixed ASAP. If someone wrote a questionable comment in your name by accident, please e-mail me and I’ll correct it.
