Finland for Thought
Politics, current events, culture - In Finland & United States

Tervetuloa | Welcome
As an American living in Finland, I started this blog six years ago to address the political and cultural issues in Finland and the United States - but lately this blog is just a place for me to make fun of Finns and Americans. :-)

  5. i reckon she’s promoting her book in akateeminen kirjakauppa (“academic bookshop”) here

  6. Yes, she was promoting her book. She got the Finnish treatment with staring crowds at malls, and left the country screaming.

  7. The scary thing is that I think she had more fans than Conan.

I need to find my Rocky pictures. He had a good crowd come out for him too. Then again, these other “stars” are smart enough to visit in the summer!

  8. Ah.. the rich Finnish tradition of getting foreign “celebrities” in to gawp at. She was mobbed in Akateeminen, but I wonder how many actually bought her book? Did she REALLY do the malls, though? I only remember a book launch press conference at Otava and the Akateeminen gig. And that Seiska didn’t get an interview, so they deliberately crashed into her limo and then took pictures while everyone waited for the police to show up. They got fined for dangerous driving. :)

  9. I was at that same akateeminen last fall to get three of my favourite Bret Easton Ellis books signed. It was creepy as hell when I noticed the old man was clearly interested in me. “I noticed you in the front row next to that blond girl – you guys together? Could I take a picture of you?” Kinda cool thought – the possibility that Ellis has my picture in his computer.

  10. Amazing world we live in.

You have sex (was that the it word?) with a married president, and your reward is a world tour and a book deal.

Must go teach the kids I am bringing them up wrong.

  11. Hey, you young chicks, take a notice that the moral of this story is; if you give a blow job to an old man you might become famous!

  15. “slow news day”?

No it’s not, Sillanpää came out!
    Totally unexpected!

  16. Dunno if Sillanpää and LA Mozzarella have anything in common, but in other news:

“Singer MORRISSEY was quizzed by the FBI and British intelligence after speaking out against the American and British governments.”

Freedom of speech, and so on.
