What’s wrong with you finns? Who the hell cares about his pronunciation of Finnish. I’m from Sweden and alot of finn-swedes here can’t pronunce the language like “real swedes”, but like i said before. Who the hell cares! aslong as you understand.

I think these Finland segments makes up for really good comedy =)

I’m certainly not finnish and I don’t speak but the Finnish language is known to be very difficult to learn. And of course learning different languages can be difficult but remember it has a lot to do with a persons background. It is truely unfair to say that every language is equally difficult to learn.

Look at the Slavic languages, Russian, Bulgarian, Ukranian. They have all very similar pronounciations and intonations so of course it’d be easier for someone to learn a language closer to their own. Now take that person and plop him in China and try to teach him Mandarin which is a tone based language. Do you have any idea how truely difficult it would be for the person to learn correct pronounciation and even just writing?

Most people in America do not even have any remote idea of how Finnish is pronounced and considering the Finnish grammar structure was once said to be like “discovering a complete wine-cellar filled with bottles of an amazing wine of a kind and flavour never tasted before. It quite intoxicated me” by none other than Professor JRR Tolkein himself who was a professional linguist, of course it would be difficult for people to learn.

I find it funny how you people critisize someone’s pronounciatian of finnish, when the person probably never heard the language before, while most of you supposedly took english lessons for several years and have been hearing it perhaps on daily basis for even longer – and you still can’t seem to grasp some very basic ‘stuff’ (like the difference between hard & hardly – gimme a break…).

Furthermore, I think Mr. O’brien must be (as he’s jokingly stated many times) really puzzled as to why the hell “the whole of Finland” (which of course largely means the two main tabloids) is so fucking pre-occupied with ‘a stupid talk show’.

As to it being cool that stuff like this happens, I do agree it’s funny etc., but why the hell does everybody have to get some ridiculously carried away about it? “it is cool that conan is even trying to talk about finland in the first place, no one else in america even acknowledges its existence!” What the tarnation is that supposed to mean??? In what way exactly should they ‘acknowledge our existence’? If this is a big deal, what about the president of the USA visiting Finland? Wouldn’t that be great? But I guess something like that could never happen in a million years. Still, one can always dream… Actually, I don’t think I would want him here anyway, we’ve got enough retarded folks over here already. (I don’t mean any of you, I mean the mentally handicapped)
