Unbeliavable, it was some fight to get Swedish out of the matriculation exam, because of the government-place-guaranteed Swedish People’s Party. I don’t think this statement will lead to anything though.
The title is a little misleading. After all the “second domestic language” is still compulsory in Finnish schools, I mean learning it, even in high school.
Of course you can always join the Anglofinns Association and change your mother tongue to English… officially.

They really shouldnt bring back Swedish exams to the YO exam program. Im not good at swedish and that was the hardest exam for me. I almost flunked it but because the minimum score to pass was so low as 112 points I passed the exam with 3 points. You can call that luck! Finnish people should have the freedom to choose if they want to do the swedish exam or if they want to replace it with something different.
