Role of the Internet in the EU’s public diplomacy strategy

Tags: Uncategorized — Author: @ 1:36 pm

A PhD student from the Department of Politics, International Relations and European studies. His PHD thesis is on the role of the Internet in the EU’s public diplomacy strategy and the impact of the Internet on the emerging European public sphere. If you have a few minutes, please take some time and fill out his survey…

http://learn.lboro.ac.uk/survey/public/survey.php?name=EUWebSurvey2005_copy1

The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and no expert knowledge of the EU websites or the EU as a whole is required. The survey is also completely anonymous.

Although I have no material incentives to offer to the people who fill it in, it is an opportunity for people to express their opinion about the EU. Furthermore, the more replies I collect the more likely it is that the data will be taken into consideration by EU officials when I present them with the results.

I had only heard of EUROPA before so it was interesting to learn what the other main EU websites are. Thanks for the link Phil!

I personally think sometimes europa.eu.int is sometimes crap, especially where the intro is in 20 languages but the info is only in English or French. Plus, the layout is very confusing whether you are to go Commissioner Margot Wallström’s blog, the young section’s bookshop, or trying to find info about living in Finland on EURES (the European Employment Service).
