Finnish Engrish?
Is this an example of some Finnish Engrish here – This pic is from the Finnish magazine “OHO” “7 päivää” (issue 27/2005, page 23) – it’s of Martina Aitolehto (sp?), a ‘salarakas’ AKA a ‘Finnish celebrity who is only a celebrity cause they were sleeping with a Finnish celebrity’.
Does that tattoo say, “there were is mill…there is a road” ?? 
I hope that tattoo came out of a Cracker Jack box and will be gone after she takes a couple showers.

How embarrassing. According to the caption in the magazine, she thinks that the tattoo says “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”. Not exactly, Martina.
I seriously wish for these peoples’ sake that they would consult a dictionary.

This is precious! Belly piercing and all – I’m just fearing that this encourages intellectually challenged OHO! readers to get a similar tattoo.

I’ve never understood people who take a tattoo in a language they don’t even know (at least well enough), so that they could be 100% sure of the actual meaning of whatever it is they want their skin to say.. There used to be lots of (mainly) Americans who came to my board to ask how to say thir or that in Irish, since they wanted such tattoo.. I don’t know much Irish myself, but my partner and his mam speak Irish, so they’d help me translating stuff, but I was never comfortable with the idea of someone actually tattooing themself with something that might have a spelling or punctuation error on it, so I quit the translation part of the forum. Besides, it was often impossible to make them understand that you can’t just translate things word to word (as this “salarakas” seems to have done), different languages have different ways of saying things, different phrases, etc..

This reminds me of thiose Sprite commercials where the kids get tattoos of chinese symbols, thinking that they spell something great where actually they spell names of foods.
I wonder if Martina realizes what a fool she is making of herself?

Salarakas can be translated as a secret lover, which reminds me of an Ozzy Osbourne song Secret Loser.

I remember one bus stop back home with a big “FUK” written on it. I think it is more effective that way. With proper spelling, you are giving finger to the society, but with FUK, you are also giving finger to the whole civilization.

Actually, some people in Ireland may occasionally spell the F word “fuk” – not because they don’t know how it’s really spelled, though.. (There’s also the nicer, Irish version – feck.. A word you can hear even from the mouths of grannies, priests, and other people who’d never really use the big bad F word)

this is probably wash off tattoo or image mock-up.
poeple want to feel superior (they know better or somebody has messed up worse than they have).. and that’s what sells magazines.
and i see that they (editors) haven’t failed this time either since also you are promoting the magazine

They might not be stupid but they are ruthless. This is most likely a real tattoo and the magazine is taking raw advantage of Martina’s naiveness and stupidity. When they are through with her they will throw her out like an old pair of Sloggis.
There are celebrities out there who work together with these magazines, like Hannele Lauri. Martina and all other “kohublondis” like her are not among them.

I think it’s Aitolehti, not Aitolehto. My guess is that she’s very much working together with these magazines, she is trying to stay famous by taking advantage of how the mags work but in the end that is a losing game as new celebrities will replace her if she can’t create a new kiss-and-tell story about a big celebrity soon.

Christ on a bike! The poor girl. A latchkey kid if I ever saw one. How starving for attention do you really have to be to do something like that to yourself? Either she’s just a complete moron, or she’s in cahoots with the media on the whole deal milking the public for cash AND a complete moron toboot. Anyway you want look at it, that girl loses big time – and proves that she’s got the capacity of a wallnut. I can’t even sympathise.

n the last month, seven people unknowingly received explicit tattoos from the disgruntled artist. Kerri Baker, a Carlow College freshman, paid $50 to have the symbols for ???beautiful goddess?? etched above her belly button, but when she went into Szechuan Express Asian Noodle Shop sporting a bare midriff, the giggling employees explained to her that the tattoo really said, ???Insert General Tso???s Chicken Here!??Â

There’s an “update” for this tattoo: The text is now covered with all-black ribbon. Martina was showing it in some magazine. So the tattoo is a real one…

I just found some “after” photos on the “7 päivää” website. She’s added prayer beads and had the words fully inked over with huge black banners.
Most of these photos have her left side (where the tattoo is) turned away from the camera, or even covered by her hands, a huge cloth, or even a palm leaf! Some others have show a huge patch of really obvious make-up on top of the tattoo, that’s very different colour to the rest of her skin! (I suppose they’d normally just airbrush it the same colour afterwards.)

Her (ex-?)bloke Alexsei Eremenko has a tattoo with a very similar looking cross, saying an equally deep and grammatically wanting “Only God judge me”, but best of all, it looks more like “Only God fudge me”!
