Guess who turns 26 today? Yup, I’m getting old. I would have been born on July 4th (U.S.’s independence day) but the doctor didn’t work that day. I think I was 23 when I first said to myself, “Hey, I really don’t feel like getting any older.”

I’ve never really liked my birthday, too much attention on myself, I prefer Christmas where it’s like everyone’s birthday for a day. And I hate buying gifts for people, so I’d feel like a hypocrite if I enjoyed receiving them.

And just this year I noticed that I’m starting to lose some hair up above my temples. But as my hairline recedes, I seem to be gaining an equal amount of hair at the spot just above my ass – what the hell kind of trade-off is that??

Congratulations !! I was born in July, too. In school I felt it was nice to be born during the holiday season because I didn’t like the attention that comes with having your birthday when you’re a kid. Funny that I’ve never liked giving or taking presents that much, either. I also feel that birthdays are mostly there to remind you of aging. One thing, though, I like about birthdays (mine or others) is that they remind you that you’re alive. Some of my schoolmates died young and still being here is worth to celebrate. At least a little.

That little patch above your ass (which is really at the bottom of your back) is a sign of your blossoming manhood. It’s when you get long hair on your ears and growing out of your eyebrows that you can start to feel old, and that doesn’t happen till you are in your late 30s!

ya i know im the same everybody else seems to revel in these sort of situations i just want to get them over with, its not that im trying to dodge the fact im a year older its just it means nothing, im 32 now maybe later i will start to worry at these events, but surly thats not what they are meant to be. maybe its better if we stop birthday celeb when we 11 or 12 no good comes from it after that

Marilyn Monroe’s rendition of “Happy Birthday To You” is the best, ever.

Incidentally, that song was copyrighted in, I think, 1904 or so. It was written by an American kindergarten teacher who wrote a songbook for children to sing for all kinds of different occasions.

It is still in the private domain. The owners earn roughly $26 million a year from it.
