Jakomäki
I was driving by this yesterday and had to turn around to take a picture - anyone who has seen Nousukausi will recognize this (and if you haven’t, you need to go rent the movie tonight, it’s excellent). Jakomäki wasn’t exactly the dump I expected it to be (although it’s summertime in Finland, I don’t think anywhere looks bad) - but I think it’s the Jakomäki natives which makes the neighborhood so interesting, they were a lively bunch at 3pm on a Monday.

Well, they’ve been fixing up the buildings in Jakom?¤ki on a large scale these past few years so it’s lost some of it’s unique, umm, atmosphere
It’s good for those living there, but because of the renovations the area really can’t be used as a “Finnish ghetto” example anymore.

Jakom?¤ki is no more what it’s reputation is. I suppose that the place had more than it’s share of the troubles during the 70’s and 80’s but now it’s not that bad. I used to live there and didn’t find it repulsive or anything

“Jakom?¤ki wasn???t exactly the dump I expected it to be”
Even yankee libertarians have these prejudices? But that’s what is to be expected from somebody living in that awful city of Espoo. Thank god (and I DO NOT ACTUALLY believe in A god) I do not have THAT disease!

How often do you use words like: idiot, stupid, dumbass, … Maybe I’m not as flexible as you when it comes to name-calling?
