I tend to think these kinds of pictures will backfire, and elicit more sympathy for him, rather than ridicule and opprobrium.
When you really think about it, he is here at his most vulnerably human.
Never mind that he knowingly put to death a few hundred thousand of his political enemies. This is what the public will think of him now: a man victimized by his captors.

If you look at the cast of “Our Friend Saddam”, you’ll notice many politicians of left, center and right who used to be his friends:
I think it’s shameful for politicians of all persuasions to be associated with that man, although I think the publication of these photos was probably stupid. He should be judged by a court.
