Bill Gates says strict VISA rules hurting US
From Financial Times…
Bill Gates says the tough US visa regime has caused a decline in foreign computer science students so severe it is threatening to undermine America’s position in the global software industry.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Microsoft chairman, whose company is one of the world’s biggest employers of international computer talent, branded the fall in student numbers a disasterÂÂ.
…I couldn’t agree more.

Check out the latest Reason. I think they had even some good statistics - the number of job applications from foreign countries to the US have dropped dramatically, and companies are having to arrange seminars, meetings etc in the Europe and other free continents now, which are making a big cut in corporate budgets.
And… I found this in my quote file:
“You exclude immigrants from our high-tech industries and what you get is Europe, where they have no important computer or semiconductor company now after 20 years of focusing on information technologies. There’s been a steady stream of heavily funded European economic community industrial policies focused on semiconductors and computers, and Europe has ended this period without a single important computer or semiconductor company….In fact, many of the key contributors to the U.S. industry came here from Europe: Eastern Europe, Italy, Belgium, Britain, France. Where would we be if we hadn’t welcomed them?”
