Finland for Thought
Politics, current events, culture - In Finland & United States

Tervetuloa | Welcome
I'm an American who's been living in Finland for six years (damn!). I started this blog to address some of the political, cultural, and current event issues in Finland and the United States.

...but mostly what you'll find here is: Finnish and American stereotypes, Funny YouTube videos about Finland, rants about our high taxes and low salaries, and [not-so] comedic differences between Finns and Americans. Enjoy! :-)

Why Finland is Fantastic –
Reason #2,901: Safety in the Cities

Tags: Uncategorized — Author: Phil @ 8:30 pm

This is very similar to Reason #7,774, but it deserves it’s own number – Safety in the Finnish countryside is going to be very compariable to safety in the United States countryside. And I think that safety in the Finnish suburbs is going to be sorta compariable to safety in the U.S. suburbs. The key difference is, the cities.

This is one of the things that truly makes Finland so fantastic – people can live in a densely populated city without fear of assault, robbery etc.. – In the United States that’s just not possible unless you live in some rich, white little haven inside a city. Walking down the street at 3am in Helsinki is nothing like walking down the street at 3am in [insert any big U.S. city here]. City life is a lot of fun and it’s a shame that it’s tough to do in the U.S.
